3M™ Glass Cloth Tape 398FR offers flame retardant protection for aerospace cargo bays and other aerospace maintenance activities. The high-quality construction allows the product to adhere on contact, provide high durability, and resist wear. The product can be used to solve a number of applications including:
• Sealing Tedlar® panels in cargo areas
• Splicing insulation in aircraft construction
• Seat frame maintenance
• Flame retardant material for component labels
• Window frame splicing
• Other maintenance and repair activities where “flyaway” material requirements are needed
The major application of 3M™ 398FR has been identified as Cargo Bay splicing. Aerospace equipment manufacturers design airplanes to withstand cargo fires by lining cargo areas with flame retardant panels. Based on government regulations, these panels are required to be spliced together with flame retardant adhesive tapes to completely seal the cargo area.

• Listed on the latest Boeing QPL (Qualified product listing), BMS5-146 Type 1 , class 1 Grade A approval
• Pressure sensitive adhesive tapes have superior adhesion levels to Tedlar® and other surfaces for an extended period of time. Maintains adhesion in climate and temperature variability.
• Conformable backing allows you to properly splice uneven Tedlar panels while maintaining high durability, as well as resisting wear from heavy bag traffic.
• Does not contain penta, octa or deca Brominated Diphenyl Ether, conforming to EU directive 2003/11/EC of the European Parliament and the Council of February 6, 2003, regarding Council Directive 76/769/EEC.
• Does not contain antimony trioxide, a heavy metal anticipated to be restricted under EU directive in the near future (leading competitive products contain this chemical).
• 3M™ pressure sensitive acrylic adhesive provides excellent adhesion levels to Tedlar® and other surfaces for an extended period of time.
• Exceeds industry flame retardant standards – F.A.R. 25.853 (a) and 25.855 (d)
