Aluminium Honeycomb Cutting and Expanding
With stocks of some 25 variants, a rapid response is provided both to in-house requirements and to those companies buying aluminium core. In addition, the group boasts one of the largest combined Nomex® core cutting and aluminium core cutting/expanding operations in the UK.
Material Pretreatment
One of the most important criteria for adhesive bonded structures is material preparation. Technical Resin Bonders has a proven system, based on Defence Standard 03-2, which involves large scale alkaline and vapour degreasing, chromic/sulphuric acid etching and de-ionized water wash down.
Lay Up and Bonding
The use of modern high strength structural adhesive file systems allow for precise control of 'glue-line thickness' and easy application, resulting in efficient bonding of many different sandwich panels types which can have decorative laminate faces and internally bonded hard points for various attachments.
A large freezer storeroom enables adhesives and advanced composite materials to be held in ideal conditions.
Clean Room
An environment-controlled clean room, with an internal positive pressure situation, allows the processing of advanced composite materials. It also meets the exacting demands of companies operating in the space and defence industries that require specialized bonding of intricate components.
High Temperature Curing
Flat panels having been assembled ready for bonding are loaded into a press and heated to the adhesive cure temperature while being held under pressure. Cure cycles, up to a temperature of 180°C, can be programmed and automatically controlled. Technical Resin Bonders boasts seven multi-daylight presses, the largest being capable of taking work pieces up to 3200mm x 1600mm.
Curved panels, or more complex shaped components, can be held under pressure by vacuum bag techniques and oven cured.
Three-Axis CNC Router
A three-axis CNC router provides the accuracy and repeatability of the precise dimensions demanded by Technical Resin Bonders' customers. With a table size of 3050mm x 1550mm the router incorporates many state of the art features including an eight station tool magazine and a nine spindle programmable boring head. An advanced system controller and AlphaCam planning software package provides a true CAD/CAM capability.
Lightweight Assemblies
Complex shaped yet lightweight and rigid modules can be designed to meet individual applications. Materials can be selected and construction tailored to meet the latest fire, smoke, toxicity and passenger safety regulations. Assemblies can be totally complete with electrics, plumbing, brackets and equipment ready for installation.
