Today's Turbine Motor Works started life as Jet Technology Centre in 1988. Based in Dublin Ireland , JT3D engine overhaul and field support services were performed for JT3D operators in Africa and the Middle East . The engine overhaul facility was relocated to Manston in Kent , England in 1994.

A number of our original JT3D customers introduced CF6-50 powered aircraft to replace the Boeing 707 and Douglas DC8. Accordingly, it was decided that CF6-50 engine overhaul capability would be added. Tooling and support equipment was acquired during 2003.

Facilities at Manston were inadequate to accommodate maintenance operations on the larger CF6. To meet our needs, the former RAF Upwood technical site and hangars in Cambridgeshire were acquired in March 2004. The extensive space and facilities will provide adequate room to accommodate not only CF6 operations, but a consolidation of our accessory overhaul and engine component repair and overhaul businesses, Turbine Component Works and TAMRO, both of which will open in January 2007.

Our new facilities were accepted for CF6-50 and JT3D engine overhaul operations by both the European Aviation Safety Agency and the United States Federal Aviation Administration during 2004. We are dedicated to our goal of providing maintenance solutions delivering the lowest hourly cost of ownership to each of our customers.

Turbine Motor Works performs workscopes ranging from light repair through to full overhaul for both the General Electric CF6-45/50 and the Pratt and Whitney JT3D series engines.

Consistent with our goal of providing maintenance solutions delivering the lowest hourly cost of ownership to each of our customers, effective, targeted repair workscopes are developed to maximise the service life of customer’s engines between scheduled major module refurbishments.

These activities are supported by extensive in house capability including welding, heat treatments, NDT, plasma spray, paint shops, gearbox and QEC equipment overhaul.

Turbine Motor Works presents highly experienced Field Service Crews, who can be deployed worldwide to support customer’s 24/7 AOG needs. Services include engine replacement, split & ship (CF6), Boeing 747 5th pod transportation, compressor top case repairs (CF6), wing testing and certain module changes.
