FASS Agency Members specialise in supplying temporary aircraft maintenance workers, licensed and unlicensed, to Aircraft Maintenance and Repair Organisations (MROs) worldwide.  They operate in accordance with a strict Code of Practice.  Regular audits are carried out to ensure that all members maintain a uniformly high standard.FASS started in 2001 with the encouragement of the UK Civil Aviation Authority. Initially 12 Agencies, from all the UK-based agencies decided to form the Federation and to appoint a part-time Chairman and Executive Director.The Code of Practice was decided at that time and has remained largely unchanged since. It sets a simple but difficult standard of quality, including the thorough verification of all information supplied to a client about training, qualification and employment history, which includes seeing original certificates for training and qualifications claimed by a contractor, and obtaining, directly from agencies and employers, written confirmations of the employment history claimed in a CV. The purpose of the Code is to provide clients (usually the Quality Manager) with 100% reliable information upon which to base their assessments of competence of contractors for the task required. The requirements of EASA Part 145 and Part M are such that the assessor MUST be totally confident that someone has thoroughly checked out the information supplied (ie the CV).The UK Operators Technical Group (comprising all the important airline Maintenance Organisations in UK) discussed the question of contractor documentation in 2005 and concluded that
