Sennheiser

Eight new aviation headsets from audio specialists Sennheiser ensure superb speech intelligibility and much improved audio reproduction in the noisy cockpits of propeller and turbo-prop aircraft and helicopters.  Their specially developed closed ear cups and NoiseGard active noise cancellation system are highly effective in reducing wind and engine noise by up to 40 dB.  For propeller and turbo-prop aircraft, the
HMEC 350, HMEC 352, HMEC 355 (-C), HMEC 356 headsets and the top-of-the-range HMEC 450 model are available, while the HMEC 372 and HMDC 372 are the ideal choice for helicopters.

"The new general aviation headsets combine state-of-the-art technology with unique wearing comfort," said Jörg Buchberger, Product Manager Aviation & Automotive at Sennheiser.  "New filter technology has made it possible to improve speech intelligibility even further, thus ensuring even more safety in the cockpit.  Non-commercial pilots who like to listen to music during long flights will find that the new filters also greatly enhance the sound quality, especially since the NoiseGard? noise cancellation system and the passive attenuation of the headsets reduce background noise by up to 40 dB."

To guarantee optimum speech transmission, all headsets are equipped with a noise-compensating condenser microphone (HMDC 372: dynamic microphone), which can be worn on either side of the head.  The reception volume can be adjusted directly at the headset.  If the BP-04 battery pack (optional accessory) is used to provide the NoiseGard supply voltage, an "Auto Shut-Off" function ensures that the power supply is automatically switched off when the headset is no longer in use.  When the NoiseGard power supply is deactivated, the headsets work like conventional passive headsets.

Alongside the dark blue headsets of the 350 series and the two 372 models, also in dark blue, the top-of-the-range HMEC 450 is particularly attractive with its silver finish.  Extra soft ear pads provide even more wearing comfort and the headband is even more generously padded.  The headset comes with a ten-year guarantee, while the 300 series models are guaranteed for five years.  All headsets  with the exception of the HMDC 372 with a dynamic microphone  comply with JTSO C57a/C58a.
