FiberCote CoreFix® prepregs …
FiberCote’s CoreFix® product is an innovative prepreg used for stabilizing metallic and non-metallic honeycomb materials during handling and machining operations. This product was specifically designed for stabilizing honeycomb during the
machining process and offers several advantages over traditional prepregs or double-sided adhesive tapes that historically have been used to stabilize core.
CoreFix is Boeing-approved for use with metal and non-metal honeycomb cores, per BMS 4–4V and BMS 4–6L.CoreFix bonds to the underside of honeycomb sheets and allows the panels to be vacuum chucked and subsequently machined on programmable multi-axis machining equipment. After machining has been completed, CoreFix can be easily removed from the core without tearing or distorting the honeycomb part and leaves no residue on the core, which eliminates the need for expensive cleaning processes.
CoreFix is chemically and thermally stable when stored dry, at room temperature. CoreFix can be used immediately by production personnel as opposed to waiting long periods of time (8 – 12 hours for a typical roll of prepreg) for frozen materials to thaw. CoreFix eliminates the cost of cold storage, refrigerated and transportation charges.
Several major aerospace companies have documented significant savings from the use of CoreFix due to the obvious advantages:
. Elimination of cleaning process
. Ambient temperature storage
. Low temperature/short cure cycles
. Product performance during machining
. Reduced scrap rates
. Ease of product removal
News of the Aqua Product Family of aerospace sealants
The new 2-K silicone sealer 3073 offers a very smooth surface of the inner side of the part. The product allows fast and complete sealing, which avoids resin transfer even at high temperatures and high pressures. The Sealer is very flexible and can easily be pulled out of the part after curing.
Aquapour and Aquacore can be washed out with normal tap water and they are completely safe for the workers and the environment.
Superlease Blue
Superlease is a tightly woven, coated nylon peel ply, that releases well from most resin systems. Superlease Blue is a superior Peel Ply for Resin Infusion or other resin rich processes. The yarn type used is Nylon, the max. temperature use is at 232°C and the color is blue. Stocking sizes are 1.52 m x 91.5 meters.
Henkel integrates the products of Sovereign…
In December 2004, Henkel acquired Sovereign Specialty Chemicals. Sovereign’s aerospace products and expertise provide
Henkel with complimentary positions in nacelle products, core splices and composite film adhesives. The SIA adhesives range is being integrated into the Henkel production line in Bay Point, California. It is important to know, that the exact same raw materials will be used. The equipment will be transferred or equivalent equipment already on site will be used.
Due to the regulatory risk associated with the shipment of single component paste adhesives, Henkel will withdraw these from the market. For some of the materials we recommend a replacement product, for other materials alternatives will be available from European manufacturing.
