    St Bernard Composites Ltd manufacture a range of metal bonded components and structures in support of major engine, thrust reverser and helicopter programmes, including:
      

  • Thrust reverser acoustic panels for large civil aircraft.
  • Large autoclave bonded panels for thrust reverser blocker doors.
  • Floor panels and aero shelf assemblies for navigational and electronic equipment
  • Undercarriage and external aerodynamic fairings and access doors.The processes include:
     

     

  • Strechformed and acoustically perforated skins anodised using an automated treatment plant .
  • Skins and honeycomb, one shot hot bond autoclave and oven cured.
  • Profile machining of bonded components using CNC 3 and 5 axis equipment.
  • Automated NDT (C-scan)Materials treated include aluminium, stainless steel and titanium skins, solid or perforated, together with aluminium and nomex honeycomb cores.

    An extensive range of external fairings and sub-assemblies are manufactured from carbon, glass and aramid fibre composites and supplied for fixed and rotating wing applications.  Helicopters also use metal to metal bonding for external body panels and close tolerance internal equipment shelving. 

    Missile body components such as fins and fairings are compression moulded from long fibre epoxy composites.
